On our arrival to Dublin we decided to visit the Trinity College Library before heading out of town. The exhibition displays the Book of Kells, a 9th century manuscript that documents the four gospels of Christ. The Book of Kells is Ireland's greatest treasure and the world's most famous medieval manuscript. The library itself is magnificent. Here are a couple pics showing the scope of its contents.

By the time we got to our B & B --the Castletown House-- we were pretty tired. The B & B is on a farm in the middle of Ireland so we are surrounded by sheep and cattle and dogs and lots of crows! From here, we will take day trips every day.

Our first day trip was to the Dingle Peninsula Loop which was a beautiful drive around the peninsula with great views of villages and the ocean.

This next pic is St. Mary's Church and we went there to see the gardens.
The garden below is the prayer garden with a prayer walk.
The next garden is a tree garden. Both gardens were quiet meditative places.
The next few pictures are the shops. Notice how colorful they are, reflecting the colorful nature of the Irish people. Of course, those of us who attend Redeemer PCA already know how colorful the Irish are, right Ginger?
The Stone hut below is remarkable because its roof is also stone.
I couldn't resist this seagull. He was begging for a pic and needed no props.
Our next stop was to place where we could hold baby lambs. Who can resist that?
There were also beehive huts that dated back to about 600 A.D. The way they made them was really amazing.
Here is the entrance to one minus the roof...
The doorways were really tiny--had to stoop to get through.
They had built in shelves for storage. And notice all the tiny rocks they used to keep everything level.
I seem to have some kind of weird seagull karma. Honest to Pete--this seagull was 2 feet from me and kept yammering at me until I picked up my camera. Then he took this pose. He kept saying, "I can't take a selfie. You have to do it for me!"
The next few pics are of the coastline. Notice how turquoise the water is.
In the next picture, take note of the sheer sides. This is where The Last Jedi (Star Wars 2017) was filmed.

We decided to take a very strenuous hike to Dunmore Head which is the western-most point in all of Europe. Along the path were lots of flowers (Sea Pinks) and sheep.
Sea Pinks |
At Dunmore Head we could sit and watch the waves crashing together. The camera doesn't do justice to how high the spray went!
When we got back into our car after the hike, this fellow was on our car looking at us through the windshield. Vern said, "Shall I tell him to 'bugger off?' LOL He flew away when the car started moving.
Hotel on our way out of town. The Hotels are always the prettiest buildings in town.
