Provisions for the Journey

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. (John 10:14 ESV)

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He will tend his flock like a shepherd;
                        he will gather the lambs in his arms;
            he will carry them in his bosom,
                        and gently lead those that are with young. (Isaiah 40:11 ESV)

He leads me beside still waters.

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:

He restores my soul.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 ESV)

He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
(John 10:2-4 ESV)

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.”  (John 11:25-26 ESV)

for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:20 ESV)
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.” (John 14:16-19)

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”  (John 6:51 ESV)
“Come, everyone who thirsts,
                        come to the waters;
            and he who has no money,
                        come, buy and eat!
            Come, buy wine and milk
                        without money and without price.
            Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
                        and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
            Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,
                        and delight yourselves in rich food.”  (Isaiah 55:1-2 ESV)

you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

The LORD your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your cattle and in the fruit of your ground. For the LORD will again take delight in prospering you, as he took delight in your fathers, when you obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in this Book of the Law, when you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 30:9-10 ESV)

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.  (Psalm 23 ESV)

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. (Revelation 22:1-5 ESV)
